Jenny Sturgeon and Patsy Reid – Kinloss

We’re big fans of Scottish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist Jenny Sturgeon at Hilltop Live. She’s performed a few times for us with the amazing trio Salt House, and we’re delighed to have her peform a set of her solo work. Her music combines field recordings with sonic and lyrical imagery which is bound together by common threads of nature, folklore and the connection people have with the landscape. In addition to Salt House, Jenny’s musical collaborations include writing and performing in the bird and kitchen-disco inspired band Birdvox and in Outliers with Boo Hewerdine.
Jenny will be performing a mix of songs from her solo work and some of her songs inspired by Nan Shepherd’s book ‘The Living Mountain’Jenny will be performing with Patsy Reid, one of the most admired fiddle players in the UK. She is a one-woman string quartet, contributing violin, viola and cello and combines skills and techniques from both traditional and classical backgrounds.
