Action-packed weekend planned for Logie Timber Festival

Timber company promises to plant a tree for every ticket sold

The first exhibitors and activity providers have been unveiled for a family-friendly event at Logie this September.

The Logie Timber Festival has revealed the first swathe of star attractions for its celebration of nature, sustainability and family fun – taking place on September 7 and 8, 2024, on the Logie Estate, near Forres.

Visitors will be able to take part in axe throwing sessions with Wooden Tom and archery lessons with Bow Hunter Archery, as well as trying their hand at green woodworking with Aaron Sterritt.

The Great Glen Ferret Association and Speyside Falconry will also be there to let festival goers get up close and personal with wildlife.

Adult tickets start from just £5, with under 16s going free across the whole weekend. Tickets are available now at https://logietimber.co.uk/timber-festival-2024/ – and for every ticket sold, the sawmill will plant a tree as part of its commitment to sustainability.

Bigger and better

“The 2024 Logie Timber Festival is set to be even bigger and better than our last,” said Logie Timber founder, Mark Councill.

“With activities for all ages, makers exhibiting their wares, hands-on demonstrations of wood-based crafts and talks from important rural organisations, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

“Plus you get to spend the weekend outside, in nature, amongst some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside… what’s not to love?!”

Bespoke Furniture by WG Hall, Fodderty Woodturning, Eco Frame, and artist Liz Peck will all be displaying their wood-based wares during the event alongside many others.

And festival goers will have the opportunity to learn more about a range of organisations including the Highland Folk Museum, Forestry and Land Scotland, Mackintosh School of Architecture, and the Institute of Chartered Foresters.

Macone’s Ices, Spruce and Stag and Heilan Brew Coffee are also amongst the vendors that will be serving up delicious food and drink across the weekend.

Celebration of amazing people

A full list of exhibitors, vendors and speakers is available on the festival’s website – with musical entertainment across the weekend still to be announced.

Mark added: “The festival is truly going to be a celebration of all the amazing people that make our corner of Scotland such a vibrant and exciting place to live. From unique products to hands-on demonstrations to delicious delicacies, there will be so much to see and do across the weekend.

“By celebrating nature and those who work with it, we are shining a light on local sustainability, and the importance of preserving our environment and its woodlands.”

The Logie Timber Festival was founded in 2019 by Logie Timber and Logie Estate to celebrate the luscious woodlands of the surrounding area, and to allow visitors an insight into what makes the local environment so important. The festival provides fun activities for all the family – as well as showcasing local talent, offering unique gift buying opportunities, and promoting environmental awareness.

The 2024 festival is supported by Hultafors, Whitby & Co and Hellberg and Rothoblaas.

In the last three years, Logie Timber has invested around £1.5 million in a new saw line and mill, trebling its output and improving efficiency. Logie Timber’s mission of sustainability sees a focus on locally sourced wood, with a strong focus on a circular economy – ensuring every part of the timber is utilised, from timber to biomass fuel to agricultural products.
