Two Elgin sisters who have been lifelong dedicated fans of the Bay City Rollers were picked out of the crowd at Forres Fest on Saturday and asked if they’d like to meet their idols.
Meg Grant and Esther Riddell were spotted by organiser Andy MacDonald, donning their tartan scarves. The ladies had secured their spot in the front row when the Bay City Rollers came on stage at 9pm.
Meg explained: “I got a T-shirt made up with their picture on, and I think they could see we were big fans! We were at MacMoray last year too.”
“My sister Esther and myself were asked from the MacMoray crew if we would like to go backstage and meet them. We were in our element, well I was! They were all total gents and full of fun. All thanks to MacMoray.”
“We’re both big Bay City Rollers’ fans. I’ve seen them before in Edinbugh and of course at MacMoray but this is the first time I’ve met them face to face.”
Meg said Woody and Johnny are her favourite band members, and her favourite songs are Shang-a-lang and Bye Bye Baby.
She added: “It was a fantastic day. All the bands were great, and everyone of all ages was having a great. time. I think the Forres Mechanics should do it all again.”
“It also happened to be Esther’s birthday, and Clanadonia, who were on earlier, played ‘Happy Birthday’ to her on the pipes, and she got her picture taken with one of their drummers as well.”
